Interview with Leslie Alvarez of Old Republic Title
Today I had the honor of interviewing Leslie Alvarez, a fabulous escrow officer over at Old Republic Title, right here in Santa Cruz! She is shifting and staying current as we are navigating through the Coronavirus season. In this interview, we discuss how her job has changed during this pandemic, her opinion on whether or not we will see a shift in the industry, her favorite thing that has come out of the pandemic, also what challenges she has been faced with, and how Old Republic Title is supporting their employees and the community during these times. Leslie wants you all to know that they are working and staying busy, and they are here to help you close escrows during this time as well!
Leslie details how, at Old Republic Title, they are no longer meeting with clients in person, because with the Shelter in Place Order, clients are not able to come into the office, even if they were wearing a mask and gloves. So, that being said, they are no longer doing signings in the office, that is now all being done with mobile notaries. The mobile notary will go to the home buyer’s and home seller’s current residence, wearing a mask and gloves, and obtain all of the signatures virtually. But overall, Leslie Alvarez says that they are still super busy during this time and they are still closing escrows. However, she misses signing off her clients in person but she is grateful is for everything running smoothly without the in-person meetings. Signing off and getting face time with her clients is her absolute favorite part, but she is actually able to get more done and serve more clients since it has all become electronic.
Leslie’s is currently loving being able to slow down during this Shelter in Place. Not having such a busy schedule, she is getting to spend more time with her son, Joey. And getting that alone time with him and her husband as well. She loves getting that family time and not always having to be somewhere all the time.
But the challenges she’s facing is also, not being able to see people, other than her immediate family, in person. Without the crazy schedule, she has started missing people. She misses her friends and family and getting together. Her grandma had open heart surgery during all this, and no one could visit her at the hospital, and that was really hard for Leslie. But now her 90-year old grandma is back home and is feeling strong.
Leslie Alvarez also mentions that Old Republic Title has been great during the Shelter in Place. They are all pulling together as a team and everyone is helping each other out. Most people with kids are taking turns working from home. And when people are working from home, if they aren’t busy, then they are helping whoever needs support. The management has been great to make sure that they are all taken care of.
