Santa Cruz Shelter in Place 2020: Day 10

Yesterday was Day 10 of the #shelterinplace ordinance here in Santa Cruz! And I got out of my “Groundhog’s Day” Funk! I was able to wake up at 5:30am, do my meditation, stretching, and intention setting, and reading. Oh and also guess who brought coffee in bed today, not Danny but me! I brought coffee to Danny in bed today, so I’m doing what I can to contribute back.

Santa Cruz Shelter in Place 2020: Day 10My good friend Emily said at the beginning of all this that if everyday we can do something for our mind, something for our body, something for our soul, and something for somebody else, we will all come out of this better human beings! With that in mind, I felt ready to dominate my day and do something for my mind, body, soul, and my family!

Santa Cruz Shelter in Place 2020: Day 10I also had the opportunity to interview my daughter, Ellia, to get her thoughts on the Coronavirus, and not being able to go to school or see her friends. So get ready for some 11 year-old perspective and see how she’s doing what she can to stay in touch with her Santa Cruz community!

If you are within the at-risk population and are in need of essentials, do not hesitate to reach out to me, I’m here to help! And if you’re a Santa Cruz business owner, please let me know how my family can support you during this time. I’ll even come by and film!

If you’re not exhibiting symptoms and need some fresh air, the Santa Cruz Wharf, on the westside of Santa Cruz is a great place to go. The Wharf is open from 7am-7pm daily due to the Coronavirus concern. Not only can you see seals swimming and playing together, but you can also order some award-winning food from Riva Fish House. They are open 12-6pm daily for take-out! There’s no better time than the present, to support our local Santa Cruz businesses.

Stay tuned for Day 11 of our Sheltering in Place!!

What did you just make? Oh my gosh that’s incredible I’m so happy! For you. Thank you, baby! How is that? Good? Yeah Good morning!

I’m super excited to announce that this Groundhog Day’s ass has been kicked. I am back at it I got up at 5:30 in the morning to do my breathing and meditation, and grounding and centering, and I feel really good. And my friend Emily mentioned at the beginning of all this that if everyday we could do something for our mind, something for our body, something for our soul, and something for somebody else, we will all come out of this better human beings.

So I got up I did my meditation, I did some stretching, I did my intention setting for the day. I’ve been reading the Economic uh… Economic Trends in California Real Estate, for my mind in preparation for my brokers exam and I feel really good. Oh and also guess who brought coffee in bed today, not Danny but me! I brought coffee to Danny in bed today, so I’m doing what I can to contribute back. And I’m excited about this day, I am ready to take it by the horns and dominate! Dominate! What are you doing to stay sane?

Okay, okay, kk. Hi there Shemeika Fox here, your Santa Cruz real estate expert and today we are supposed to put the real back in real estate, because it’s Monday. And I am here with my daughter Ellia and I am super excited to get to hear her perspective on the Coronavirus and how it’s effecting her. So I’m gonna ask her a few questions and she’s indulged me with the pleasure of her appearance and so here we go! Ellia how does it feel to be out of school right now when you should technically be in school? I thought that it was gonna be like amazing but like I don’t get to see like any of my friends. And it’s kinda hard to teach yourself. How does that make you feel since you don’t get to see any of your friends? I don’t like that but today me and Reese put on gloves and played Frisbee through our fence.

What is, what is, what, what other creative solutions are you finding yourself creating in order to stay in touch with your friends in your community? What are you doing? To stay connected? Oh we’re FaceTiming and we made a big group chat, and we FaceTime every night at six. That’s awesome that’s really cute. And we text each other. All day long I hear it. Okay so since it’s hard to teach yourself, today was the first day of distance learning so what has Bay View and the teachers and staff at Bay View, put in place for you to do distance learning? Well in the morning, our whole class FaceTimes each other to ask like questions and so Mr. B can like answer. And how did that go? Did you feel like you got your questions answered and you felt like you got help had a little bit more structure for your day? Yeah. That’s good.

Okay Coronavirus stay at home, stay in place, shelter in place. From the perspective of an 11 year old, the biggest take away it sounds like is she’s staying connected to her community through technology but that she actually misses the real interaction. So hopefully this is solved soon so that we can get back to our lives. Back to our lives. Sending lots of love. Putting the real back in real estate.

Now we’re back on track mind, body, and soul. Breakfast before four in the afternoon, eggs and greens courtesy of Danny. Thank you babe.

Who puts empty boxes in the freezer? I wanted a Mochi and they were empty.

Okay Ellia what are you asking for? I’m asking for 15 dollars if I do, all the laundry, vaccuum, clean one of the bathrooms since I already cleaned the other one… And dust for 15 dollars, and she already owes me 13 dollars. So that would equal, wait I did the math wrong. What would I owe you? 28 dollars. Good, so when we said all the laundry, lets be super clear what that means, what are expectations are for all the laundry. Do you know what it is? Mhmm, What? Fold it, get it from every room, and put the wet laundry into the dryer, and then take the laundry from all the rooms and put it in the laundry, and then fold that, and then put it all away. So they’ll be no laundry left in any part of the house that’s either dirty or not put away? K see y’all.

Hop to it missy, and then lets go for a walk before it gets too dark k? That’s what Reese is doing. Oh that’s nice. She’s going to the Circle Market. Oh that’s cute. Hi, Reese. Love you, Reese.

Full on child labor over here at this house. She’s doing such a good job. That little face of yours. Okay now do the floor when you’re done doing the counters. No I’m serious you have to… so get on your hands and knees and do it. Come on, come on please. You’re literally gonna get arrested. Come on, get on your hands and knees and do it. Cause you have to do a good job. Is that a good job? This is a brilliant job. This is what you do. I literally get on all the spots.
