Santa Cruz Shelter in Place 2020: Day 17

Day 17th of the Shelter in Place Ordinance here in Santa Cruz was a fun and productive day. I got up early, so that I could start my day and make coffee and do my morning routine and ritual. And when I went to get my coffee, I noticed that most of our decorative chocolates were gone. We have no chocolate in the house currently, and Ellia’s been eating these decorative chocolates! I guess we will have to go get her some actual chocolate!

Santa Cruz Shelter in Place 2020: Day 17

Ellia is very goal oriented and asked to do some chores around the house for some cash. We negotiated and then agreed that if she did the laundry, cleaned the back house, and organized and cleaned the area under the sink, that she would earn $20. Her goal is to ultimately save up $700. I wonder how long it’ll take her to make that much cash.

So she got to her chores while I worked from home. I’ve been trying to be super intentional with my clients during this time. I know that a lot of people are scared and anxious during this crazy time, and I have been trying to call everyone in my Database to see how they are doing. I want to make sure all my friends and clients are happy and healthy and I want to do whatever I can to support them. And I’ve been really busy getting two homes ready to put on the market. Both of them will be coming on the market in Aptos, California! So if you’re looking for homes in the Aptos area, stay tuned!

Santa Cruz Shelter in Place 2020: Day 17And to reward ourselves for our hard work, we decided to pamper each other. So we turned our house into a spa, calming music and everything. And gave each other facials and massages. It was really fun. What have you been doing for self care during this time? Have you tried giving your family massages and facials during the Shelter in Place? Because I highly recommend treating yourself to the at home spa experience. Let me know how it goes.

Santa Cruz Shelter in Place 2020: Day 17

After having been cooped up in the house all day, we went for a little drive along the ocean just to make sure that the ocean is still there. And guess what? The ocean’s still there, people, the ocean is still there. Have you been getting outside, while still practicing social distancing? Where has been your outdoor haven recently?

Stay tuned for Day 18 of the Shelter in Place here in Santa Cruz, California!

Ellia is pretty much kicking butt and taking names. Let’s go see how she’s doing. She’s even making the bed. Tell me what you’re doing. Making your bed. Looks really good Ellia. But the dryer didn’t do a good job. Oh well then you have to put it back in. Is it wet? You have to put it back in!

So I got up early. I know my hair’s a mess, I’m gonna have to do something with that today. But I got up early, so that I could start my day and make coffee and do my morning routine and ritual. And I went to get the coffee and I think my child has a problem and we don’t have any chocolate in the house, so she’s eating these little decorating chocolates and they’re almost gone. Maybe I should get her some chocolate or something. Weird.

My goal oriented child. Okay, what is your negotiation, Ellia? What is it that you want to earn? $700 No, right now. For doing stuff right now. $20 $20, okay, and what is your proposal to earn those $20? All the laundry. That’s a big pile of laundry. What does that mean – all the laundry – are you gonna fold it and put it away? Okay, there’s also laundry that needs to get moved over ’cause we need to be able to make our bed tonight, right? Doing all the laundry. Okay, all the laundry. Um, the back house. Like, like, um, the back house bathroom. Or we don’t really need to do that. I want you to do the top of the fridge, behind the fridge, under the fridge, under the stove, under the sink, like if you lay down on your belly like I was doing when I was exercising, it’s really dirty under there. Okay and then, um, all the laundry, the back house, and then, um, vacuum your car. My car’s not that dirty ’cause I haven’t been driving anywhere, but you can pull everything out from under the sink and in the drawers in the bathroom and organize and clean, so that means vacuuming and wiping down the cabinet. Okay, for $20. And then we’ll give each other facials. Yeah. Cool. Deal. Love you, baby.

This is breakfast of the champions. It is a poached egg, egg, g-g-g-g-g-g in chicken broth with green chives that Ellia thought cost $400. You told me that. Well, I was talking to somebody else. I need to ask you a question. How was that breakfast? Good? And guess what? ♪ I’m all dressed and ready for the day ♪ ♪ and it’s before eight o’ clock. ♪

We’re just really setting the mood right now. We’re really creating a spa like environment. What the heck? And I just spilled water all over. Ellia is gonna have a real spa experience. I hope she gives one to me when I’m done with her. It’s gonna be so good. Can you hear all that music? So nice. Makes me wanna go to sleep. No, there’s no time lapse. There’s no time lapse. Okay, I’m just massaging your hands. That tickles! He didn’t even do anything yet. Just let me have one foot, gimme one foot. He didn’t even do anything. Stop. Just stop. Mom, just let me do the time lapse. No, because this is really good. This is funny. This is not funny. Hi. Hi. Dad, you’re like working in a pizzeria or something. Well I miss pizza.

Have you ever had a facial and the facialist, aesthetician, had bad breath? Well, I’m about to give my daughter a facial, Ellia a facial, and I’m gonna go brush my teeth ’cause I- Now we have to do our facial now. Ah, ewe, ow! Chicken leg, Cheese and sour cream. I don’t want any sour cream. Oh, you got a Pinterest. But I don’t know what you want.

Wait, what did you just say? What do you want? Chocolate. What did you say, Danny? I said I want chocolate. Do you know what Ellia’s been eating because we don’t have any chocolate? Show, show us Ellia. Show us what you’ve been eating. Yeah, show me, show me what is was. Those are, like, decorating. Those are not even, like, real. That’s decorating chocolate. They are. Dark chocolate decorations. Yeah, chocolate decorations. I saw those this morning. Now you have a mustache. Or freckles.

So we’ve been cooped up in the house all day. We worked out at home and this is our first outing, so we’re going for a little drive along the ocean just to make sure that the ocean is still there. Me and my love, Ellia. You should see her face right now. She’s looking at me, like, “Mom!” The ocean’s still there, people, the ocean is still there.
