Santa Cruz Shelter in Place 2020: Day 53
So yesterday was the 53rd day of the Shelter in Place order here in Santa Cruz, and I have to be honest with you guys. I kept telling everyone that I am “fine” because technically we are. My family and I are healthy, we have a home, we have food, we are working, we are actually fine. But I think that I’ve been forgetting about the emotional side of “fine”, and when things get hard, I tend to work harder or do more and I forget to breathe. I think I hit a wall a few days ago and I cried. I realized that even though, we are “fine” as far as fine can be, this quarantine and pandemic has an emotional toll. Whether that is because we miss the normalcy of just seeing our friends or going out to dinner with people we care about, or going for a walks and meeting up with people, or dropping our kids off at school. The emotional side caught up to me and I realized that now, more than ever, we need to support each other and we need to lift each other up.
And with that said, I have a question for everybody. How are you doing emotionally during this time? Are you remembering to breathe? And what are you doing everyday to take care of you emotionally?
Anyway, later on in the day, I got to view a Coming Soon Listing that Pam Samuelson, with Coldwell Banker, has. It has beautiful granite countertops, tons of storage, and an amazingly green backyard. Let me know if you would like more information on this beautiful home.
And yesterday it was supposed to be the Bay View Elementary School Open House, but instead, we had to go pick up our kids stuff. And I got to see our beloved crossing guard, Jerry, and Renee Golder, our new Santa Cruz city councilman. Which made me happy to see them from 6 ft away!
And something exciting happened today, we closed on a home that’s on the Westside of Santa Cruz! My clients were so patient and understanding during this process, which I am so thankful for. And even though, I have been selling probate sales since before Ellia was born, this specific transaction allowed me to learn something new. I had the opportunity to learn how to do a court call. Normally, in probate sales, you have to go to court but because of the Shelter in Place, we had to do it all over court call. I was really nervous to rely on technology for something so important, but it all worked out, and the judge approved the transaction. And now we got to close today! I am beyond stoked for my clients and I cannot wait to see this home after they have restored it.
At the end of the day, Danny and I were sitting in our backyard and saw a bird fight. And this interaction made Danny realize how much he misses watching sports. What is the main thing that you are missing during this time?

If you are currently wondering what the Santa Cruz Housing Market is doing during the Coronavirus Pandemic, feel free to reach out to me. I’d be happy to answer any questions that you may have. But on March 28th, President Trump updated the essential business list and added Residential Real Estate. Meaning, that Realtors are allowed to continue working, while exercising extreme precautions, as mandated by the CDC.
With that being said, if you are currently looking to Buy a Santa Cruz Home, during the Shelter in Place, I would love to assist you in your Santa Cruz Home Search. There is not the usual amount of inventory as we normally see at this time, but mortgage rates are historically low. Now may be a great time to buy, as long as you’re willing to be patient for your dream home to come onto the market.
