Santa Cruz Shelter in Place 2020: Day 57
Yesterday was Day 57 of the Shelter in Place Order here in Santa Cruz. And it seems like the real estate market is heating up a bit. Yesterday, I showed my Queen Bee listing, over in Soquel, so that’s exciting. And I’ve also been getting some showing activity over at 159 Via Medici, which we just today reduced from $1,150,000 to $1,104,999! So check it out, it’s a super cute house, very mid-century modern, vaulted ceilings, very colorful and bright. It’s a cool house in a great location!
159 Via Medici, located in Aptos, California is FOR SALE and Recently Reduced! And, Yes!!! This is the perfect Santa Cruz Beach home. It is close to the Seascape Beaches and Seascape Resort, as well as the shops and restaurants at the Seascape village: The shops at Seascape Village are located across from Seascape Beach Resort at the corner of Seascape Boulevard and Sumner Avenue in Aptos, California. Find great clothing, jewelry, flowers and unique Monterey Bay gifts. The shopping center includes a market and deli, liquor store, coffee shop, and a variety of great restaurants. Conveniences include a dry cleaner, ATM machine, fitness center, salon, along with an array of professional and business services. This neighborhood is peaceful and a great place to really enjoy the outdoors. For more information, photos, and a virtual tour of this home click HERE.
And yesterday felt like spring because my rose is blooming. Which, this rose was a plant that I picked off the rose plant and had it in a little vase in the house, and it sprouted roots, so I planted it. And now it’s growing, so that’s kinda cool. I love little plant prizes like that.
Later on, I went on a walk, like I was a doctor, to celebrate one of the biggest sales of my career. It was actually the smallest sale of my career, monetarily speaking, but it has been one of the most challenging. But the fact that we were able to get a buyer and close makes it that much more satisfying. So I am super stoked, and I am celebrating by going for a social distancing walk with my cousin.
It was a rainy evening here in Santa Cruz, which I was happy about, since Ella just planted some beets in our garden. And on this evening, I found out that our office is going to be opening up with restricted use. We won’t be able to meet our clients there, but we will be able to start to go to work there. So that’ll be an interesting shift and twist in this situation, because I am so used to working from home. Are your offices opening now too? Are you ready to go back to work? What are your thoughts?
Stay safe, sane and tuned for Day 58 of Shelter in Place here in Santa Cruz, California!

Real Estate Update Time: We’ve seen quite a few new listings come on the market this week. We are about 2.7 months of absorption rate. Which means that it would take 2.7 months for all of the inventory that’s on the market right now, to sell. So, that’s still considered a seller’s market. But despite all that, my client who owns 4300 Soquel Drive #226 is wanting to sell now! And we’ve reduced that property to $379,000, which is a really good deal. It’s in Alimur Park, which is a resident owned park, and the home is absolutely stunning with high ceilings, and it’s light and bright. Check out the Queen Bee Home Tour video of this home, which was entirely my daughter’s idea.
If you are currently wondering what the Santa Cruz Housing Market is doing during the Coronavirus Pandemic, feel free to reach out to me. I’d be happy to answer any questions that you may have. But on March 28th, President Trump updated the essential business list and added Residential Real Estate. Meaning, that Realtors are allowed to continue working, while exercising extreme precautions, as mandated by the CDC.
With that being said, if you are currently looking to Buy a Santa Cruz Home, during the Shelter in Place, I would love to assist you in your Santa Cruz Home Search. There is not the usual amount of inventory as we normally see at this time, but mortgage rates are historically low. Now may be a great time to buy, as long as you’re willing to be patient for your dream home to come onto the market.
