Santa Cruz Shelter in Place 2020: Day 59

Yesterday was Day 59 of the Shelter in Place order here in Santa Cruz. And I passed my last broker’s exam! Woohoo! I am really excited that I passed my broker’s exam. Now I can study and sign up for the state broker’s exam and get my license. I’ve been putting this off, and it just feels so good to be done! So, onto the next!

And to celebrate, I rode over to Bay View Elementary, because the teachers are doing a parade for the end of school! It’s a teacher appreciation/student graduation parade and before I rode over to meet up with Ellia, I biked past Bay View and saw all the teachers decorating their cars and I got a little teary eyed because this is our last year at Bay View. And it has been such an incredible experience, and the teachers, staff, and community have all been absolutely wonderful. So, if any of y’all are looking for a fantastic public school and community, I highly recommend Bay View on the lower Westside of Santa Cruz! The Shelter in Place Bay View parade itself was super heartwarming. And all Ellia’s friends showed up with signs for their teachers.

After the parade, I had to bike back home to go celebrate my anniversary! Of course, it started pouring down rain, which is not typical of a May evening here in Santa Cruz, but oh well. At least, there is no one out on the road right now. But once I got home, Danny brought me a special bottle of wine. A 2002 Napa Valley, Kathryn Hall Merlot, which was the final left over bottle from our wedding, 14 years ago! Which, we actually stole back from one of my friends, who stole a case! I’m glad that we got it back from them, cause now we get to enjoy it for real.

And there’s a cool story behind this wine. When we went wine tasting to choose the wine, after a day spent in Napa, going to different wineries, we went with Danny’s cousin, Timmy, to Kathryn Hall Vineyard and we got to go into the private reserve room. This room was a cave underneath the ground, with these tunnels that were walled with World War II bricks from Austria, which is where Catherine Hall is originally from. And then you get to this beautiful banquet hall at the end, that’s just absolutely exquisite, and the chandler was the roots of a tree but they were bronze-cast with Swarovski crystals. Then we sat at this beautiful mahogany table that was like 14 feet long and it was just a total unbelievable experience. So we chose this wine, we served it, and now this is the last bottle we have. So Danny and I have been married for 14 years now. There’s definitely been ups and downs, but there’s nobody else that I would rather spend my entire life with.

Stay tuned for Day 60 of the Shelter in Place Order here in Santa Cruz, California!

Santa Cruz Shelter in Place 2020: Day 45

Real Estate Update Time:
We’ve seen quite a few new listings come on the market this week. We are about 2.7 months of absorption rate. Which means that it would take 2.7 months for all of the inventory that’s on the market right now, to sell. So, that’s still considered a seller’s market. But despite all that, my client who owns 4300 Soquel Drive #226 is wanting to sell now! And we’ve reduced that property to $379,000, which is a really good deal. It’s in Alimur Park, which is a resident owned park, and the home is absolutely stunning with high ceilings, and it’s light and bright. Check out the Queen Bee Home Tour video of this home, which was entirely my daughter’s idea.

If you are currently wondering what the Santa Cruz Housing Market is doing during the Coronavirus Pandemic, feel free to reach out to me. I’d be happy to answer any questions that you may have. But on March 28th, President Trump updated the essential business list and added Residential Real Estate. Meaning, that Realtors are allowed to continue working, while exercising extreme precautions, as mandated by the CDC.

With that being said, if you are currently looking to Buy a Santa Cruz Home, during the Shelter in Place, I would love to assist you in your Santa Cruz Home Search. There is not the usual amount of inventory as we normally see at this time, but mortgage rates are historically low. Now may be a great time to buy, as long as you’re willing to be patient for your dream home to come onto the market.

If you are currently thinking about Selling Your Santa Cruz Home during this Shelter in Place, now may be a great time to put your home on the market. With inventory being low, the demand increases. Meaning, that some homes are seeing multiple offers and bid wars. I’d love to schedule a complimentary and confidential consultation with you to see how Fox Realty Group INC. can creatively market your home!
