Santa Cruz Shelter in Place 2020: Day 69
This past Saturday was day 69 of the Shelter in Place here in Santa Cruz! Danny made me coffee in bed, which I love. And later on, Danny, got a new skateboard, since he has a “Quarantine Mohawk” so that he can skate with Ellia. It was pretty entertaining watching him try to skateboard again.
I am really excited because after looking at multiple properties the day before, one of my clients fell in love with 141 Sunnyside Avenue in Santa Cruz. Her and I worked on an offer together and it was accepted! It is such a charming East Santa Cruz home, located at the end of a Dead End Street in a coveted neighborhood close to Shopper’s Corner, The Buttery and Whole Foods Market. This home combines old world character with updated amenities. Inside there is a good size living room/dining room combination with a beautiful gas fireplace. There is a well appointed downstairs master bedroom with an updated master bathroom with floor to ceiling tile, heated floor, and a bay window with window sear. The upstairs has been transformed into another master bedroom with a full bathroom. The upstairs amenities include gas fireplace insert, built in wine cooler, vault, alcove office area, recessed lights. Kitchen has been fully updated with quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, ceasar stone backsplash and more. Yard has nice deck area to enjoy outdoor living. In addition there is detached bonus room that rents for $1800 a month. I am beyond excited that my client was able to get her offer accepted on this awesome property.
Later on in the day I was showing property and found this super cute produce stand, and I was stoked because I had to buy a few things. The stand ran on the “honor system”, so I left my money in the payment box. It was shopping at it’s finest.
At the end of the day, Ellia and a few of her friends made graduate signs to signify their accomplishment of graduating from Bayview Elementary. I cannot believe that our time at Bay View is coming to a close. It was such an amazing school with dedicated teachers and I loved the sense of community they created. But I am excited to see how this next chapter will go, with Ellia in Middle School. How are all you grads celebrating during these times? And what are you parents doing to celebrate your grads? If you are a grad, how does it feel to not be able to celebrate in a normal way?
I hope that you’ve been having a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend! Stay tuned for Day 70 of the Shelter in Place here in Santa Cruz!

Real Estate Update Time: We’ve seen quite a few new listings come on the market this week. We are about 2.7 months of absorption rate. Which means that it would take 2.7 months for all of the inventory that’s on the market right now, to sell. So, that’s still considered a seller’s market. But despite all that, my client who owns 4300 Soquel Drive #226 is wanting to sell now! And we’ve reduced that property to $379,000, which is a really good deal. It’s in Alimur Park, which is a resident owned park, and the home is absolutely stunning with high ceilings, and it’s light and bright. Check out the Queen Bee Home Tour video of this home, which was entirely my daughter’s idea.
Also, I have some exciting news!! We have a new listing that will be coming on the market within the next two weeks in Santa Cruz. 2220 Twin Hills Drive is a super cute 3 bed, 2 bath 960 square foot home in a central location in Lower Santa Cruz Gardens. This home has a 2 car garage, a large yard with trees and flowers, a shed, and a nice backyard. And this home is located within walking or biking distance to an abundance of Soquel stores, restaurants, hiking trails, parks, and Dominican Hospital. This affordable home is a must see. Please reach out to me if you would like more information on this home before it hits them market. I am happy to help!
If you are currently wondering what the Santa Cruz Housing Market is doing during the Coronavirus Pandemic, feel free to reach out to me. I’d be happy to answer any questions that you may have. But on March 28th, President Trump updated the essential business list and added Residential Real Estate. Meaning, that Realtors are allowed to continue working, while exercising extreme precautions, as mandated by the CDC.
With that being said, if you are currently looking to Buy a Santa Cruz Home, during the Shelter in Place, I would love to assist you in your Santa Cruz Home Search. There is not the usual amount of inventory as we normally see at this time, but mortgage rates are historically low. Now may be a great time to buy, as long as you’re willing to be patient for your dream home to come onto the market.
If you are currently thinking about Selling Your Santa Cruz Home during this Shelter in Place, now may be a great time to put your home on the market. With inventory being low, the demand increases. Meaning, that some homes are seeing multiple offers and bid wars. I’d love to schedule a complimentary and confidential consultation with you to see how Fox Realty Group INC. can creatively market your home!
