Santa Cruz Shelter in Place 2020: Day 78
Day 78 of the Shelter in Place here in Santa Cruz, was a day mixed with work and play. I showed some property to clients out in La Selva and was amazed by all the birds I heard. The home had an ocean view and was listed under $1 million. The cool thing about Santa Cruz county and beach homes is that prices range, if you’re ocean front, anywhere between $2.5 million- $12 million. But you can also get a beach house for under $1 million as well. And the house I showed was near one of my favorite beaches in Santa Cruz, La Selva and Beer Can. I love it out there, because you can walk for miles and miles on the beach and they are less crowded than the beaches in town. So, if you want more information on how to buy a beach house for under $1 million, let me know.
After showing property, writing offers, and meeting up with a client for a potential listing, I had to take Ellia to go get a dress for her graduation. But the things is, she does not even like to wear dresses. We went shopping in downtown Santa Cruz with masks on, since I guess that is the new normal. Ellia ended up picking out this super cute black jumper, and she looked so good! Of course, her crutches are a great accessory.
Santa Cruz Shelter in Place 2020: Day 79
Day 79 of the Shelter in Place here in Santa Cruz was “Blackout Tuesday”, where everyone was posting black squares on Instagram to show their solidarity for the Black Lives Matter Movement. And I love that everyone is trying to bring awareness to what is going on regarding racism in our society. And I took a moment of silence to reflect and recognize people who are suffering as a result of being different, or diverse, from what is considered to be the common acceptable way of being. If you would like to share a story or share something with us on ways in which you would like to see the world grow out of racism, we would love to hear from you. I think it starts with love. We need to grow with love, accept people with love, and we need to bring and lead with love.
This morning I had an early appointment, and I didn’t get a chance to make coffee at home. So I was really grateful to see that the Lulu’s Drive-Thru was open! I hadn’t been there in months, and I am super excited to see our small shops and businesses re-open. It seems like things are really starting to pick up here in Santa Cruz.
Another small business that has now re-opened is Jenna McClure’s salon! I was so excited to be able to get my hair done! Jenna says that I should wear my hair curly, but what do you guys think? Curly or straight? I’ve always straightened my hair, because it feels more professional. And while getting my hair done, there was a parade of cars honking and displaying signs for the Black Lives Matter Movement, it was really touching and it is awesome to see our community rally behind this movement.
At the end of my day, I dropped off a listing presentation box to a client who may be selling their home in the near future. Our listing presentation box has all of our marketing material and some examples so that our clients can see what we do to serve them. If you are interested in a listing presentation box or want to know what’s inside, let me know. We are here to help!
I hope that everyone is being safe and staying healthy. Stay tuned for Day 80 of the Shelter in Place here in Santa Cruz, California!

Real Estate Update Time:
We’ve seen quite a few new listings come on the market this week, more and more each week. We are about 2.7 months of absorption rate. Which means that it would take 2.7 months for all of the inventory that’s on the market right now, to sell. So, that’s still considered a seller’s market. But despite all that, my client who owns 4300 Soquel Drive #226 is wanting to sell now! And we’ve reduced that property to $379,000, which is a really good deal. It’s in Alimur Park, which is a resident owned park, and the home is absolutely stunning with high ceilings, and it’s light and bright. Check out the Queen Bee Home Tour video of this home, which was entirely my daughter’s idea.
Also, I have some exciting news!! We have a new listing that just came on the market in Santa Cruz. 2220 Twin Hills Drive is a super cute 3 bed, 2 bath 960 square foot home in a central location in Lower Santa Cruz Gardens. This home has a 2 car garage, a large yard with mature fruit trees and flowers, raised beds, a covered patio, a bonus room/shed, and a nice backyard. And this home is located within walking or biking distance to an abundance of Soquel stores, restaurants, hiking trails, parks, and Dominican Hospital. 2220 Twin Hills Drive is an affordable, and cute as a button, home that is a must see. Please reach out to me if you would like more information on this home. I am happy to help!
If you are currently wondering what the Santa Cruz Housing Market is doing during the Coronavirus Pandemic, feel free to reach out to me. I’d be happy to answer any questions that you may have. But on March 28th, President Trump updated the essential business list and added Residential Real Estate. Meaning, that Realtors are allowed to continue working, while exercising extreme precautions, as mandated by the CDC.
With that being said, if you are currently looking to Buy a Santa Cruz Home, during the Shelter in Place, I would love to assist you in your Santa Cruz Home Search. There is not the usual amount of inventory as we normally see at this time, but mortgage rates are historically low. Now may be a great time to buy, as long as you’re willing to be patient for your dream home to come onto the market.
If you are currently thinking about Selling Your Santa Cruz Home during this Shelter in Place, now may be a great time to put your home on the market. With inventory being low, the demand increases. Meaning, that some homes are seeing multiple offers and bid wars. I’d love to schedule a complimentary and confidential consultation with you to see how Fox Realty Group INC. can creatively market your home!
