Santa Cruz Shelter in Place 2020: Day 55

Shelter in Place Day 55, here in Santa Cruz, was a gorgeous, sunny day. And I got to show my clients some houses on the Upper Westside of Santa Cruz. It’s definitely funny adapting to the new normal of wearing a face mask and having to tell people when I’m smiling. And I don’t know, I’m wondering when I am showing property if I look like more of a doctor or a Realtor?

Exciting news! My prima is here from Brazil! She is quarantining in the back house for 14 days before she goes to be with my Grandma, who is 101-years-old. And it’s weird that the entire time that my cousin is here, I have to stay at least 6 feet away from her. I want to give her a hug so badly. But I am glad that she made safely back to the States.

Well, tomorrow is Mother’s Day, and I wanted to take this time to wish all your beautiful mothers a happy, happy Mother’s Day. I used to think it was a Hallmark Holiday, but I am realizing that being a mom is hard, and rewarding, and beautiful. And we should get this day to celebrate. The funny thing is, that when I first became a mom, I thought that Mother’s Day was supposed to be me spending the day with my family, which is what me do mostly everyday. And it wasn’t until Ellia was about 5 years old and my friend, Jen said, “Hey, let’s go do a mud run and then go to the Chaminade and spend the day in the spa relaxing and drinking champagne.” And I was like, “We can’t do that, it’s Mother’s Day!” And she said, “Exactly, that’s why we can do that!” And that kind of broke the seal and made me realize that Mother’s Day is really about a day of doing whatever it is that the mother wants to do. So, too bad the spas aren’t open, cause I would love to spend Mother’s Day with you, Jenny. But for Mother’s Day, this year, I ordered myself some Epicuren face products, thanks Melanie! I can’t wait to try them out.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms! Stay well and stay tuned for Day 56 of the Shelter in Place order here in Santa Cruz!
